Bijin Davis, also known as デービス美心, a designer whose upbringing in both Japan and India infuses her work with a rich tapestry of cultural influences. Raised in a bi-racial family, Bijin's diverse background fosters curiosity and open-mindedness, driving her to draw inspiration from the world around her. Her passion lies in crafting furniture, lighting, and interior products that transcend the ordinary. With experiences spanning India and Japan, her designs reflect the profound impact of her surroundings on her creative process.

I want my products to be a sensorial or emotional experience and not just static works.

For Bijin, a product is more than just an object; it's a sensorial or emotional experience. She believes that the items chosen for a space set the mood, creating memorable moments. Her inspiration springs from elemental materials like light, water, and shadows, aiming to enhance the viewer's experience and evoke enchantment.

In her latest endeavor, "Liquid Ballet," a pink splash rug for Neytt by Extraweave, debuted at India Design ID. Her graduate degree in interior design from Musashino Art University in 2021 marked a significant milestone, with her project "For a Fleeting Moment" gaining recognition in Wallpaper*, Design Milk, DesignWanted, Megosu, Interior Design Magazine, and Yellowtrace in 2022. Prior to this, she completed her Product Design Undergraduate Diploma at Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore, in 2015.

As a designer, Bijin finds the most rewarding aspect in witnessing people's faces light up when they interact with her creations.
